The Cedric Coward NBA Debut Patch has been found. Darren Rovell reported on X on the evening of September 28 that the card was pulled in New Jersey by a father and son, and that the two of them are weighing what to do with it. His photos show the card itself, signed in blue and inscribed “John 3:16”.
So far Rovell’s post is the only public record of the pull. We have not seen break footage, a listing or a grading slab. Rovell is one of the best known reporters on the business of sports cards and his photos show the actual card, so it is marked found on the tracker from September 28. If the family or their breaker gets in touch, their account goes on the card’s page.
The night the patch came from
Coward’s patch comes from his first NBA game, at home against the New Orleans Pelicans on October 22, 2025. He did not miss a shot. Fourteen points on 5-of-5 from the field and 4-of-4 from the line, with three rebounds and two steals in 22 minutes, and Memphis won 128-122. Afterwards his coach, Tuomas Iisalo, said: “Tremendous performance by Cedric.”
The season that followed held up. The 11th pick in the 2025 draft averaged 13.6 points, 5.9 rebounds and 2.8 assists across 62 games and made the All-Rookie First Team, on a Memphis side that had a difficult year.
What the family is deciding
Every finder so far has had the same three choices: sell it privately, consign it to an auction house, or keep it. Last week showed how far apart those can land. Collin Murray-Boyles’ card sold privately for $37,499. The same week, four cards that went through a Fanatics Collect Premier auction brought $13.4 million between them, led by Cooper Flagg’s $8,040,000.
